Superintendent's Message

Dear Community Members:

I am very pleased to report that the 2016-2017 school year is well underway in River Trails District 26. We are proud to offer students new and improved educational programming and facilities that we believe further enhance their total school experience. The River Trails community clearly supports its schools and our underlying mission.

“Together, family, staff and community inspire our diverse student population to develop the knowledge, skills, and character necessary to excel in an ever-changing world, while providing a safe and nurturing environment.”

In addition to leading and managing the day to day operations of the school district, it is also my responsibility as superintendent to assess current and future educational programming and facility needs. We have reached a very important milestone in the evolution of our school district. Due to  steadily increasing student enrollment, Indian Grove and Euclid Elementary Schools are at capacity. There is no additional classroom space available in either building. In fact, Indian Grove School has been forced to offer music and art instruction in a shared classroom.

In order to increase capacity at all three district schools, and to make preschool education available at a single location to all District 26 students ages 3-5, the school board has recommended building an Early Childhood Center on the Park View School site.

The decision to authorize a school construction referendum question that will appear on the November ballot, was not made lightly. The board and administrative team spent much of last year conducting research, engaging in thoughtful dialog, and seeking input from an advisory group in order to identify a beneficial solution for our students and our community.

More information about the proposed project will be made available over the next few weeks. Meanwhile, I encourage you to visit our website,  www.rtsd26.org, and click on the “Proposed Early Learning Center” icon to learn more about this very important issue facing our school community.

I look forward to nothing less than a highly successful and personally rewarding school year for our children. As always, I appreciate all that you do for and with our school district and if I can be of particular assistance to you, please contact me at ddelli@rtsd26.org.

Regards,

Dane Delli, Ph.D.
Superintendent
